Paying for Training

An IT certification could change your life, opening or expanding a path to a challenging and highly rewarding career. The cost of the training for that certification, though considerable, could be one of the best investments you will ever make. Once you've decided which certification program is right for you, The Training Center has several payment options to consider:

The Training Center will accept cash, checks (payable to The Training Center), Visa or Mastercard.

The Training Center is certified to receive funds from several different grant programs including the Employment Security Commission, the Workforce Investment Act, Job Link, and Vocational Rehabilitation. Speak with your Training Center representative for details.

The Training Center/Bank of America Loan Program - through a partnership with our local Bank of America branch, students of The Training Center are eligible to apply for tuition financing. Speak with your Training Center representative for details.

No Interest Payment Plans - The Training Center has several short-term zero interest payment plans available to assist you by spreading the payment of tuition over the course of the training. These plans require the payment of a non-refundable deposit to hold your place in the course and regular monthly payments until the tuition is paid. Speak with your Training Center representative for details.

Employer Tuition Assistance/Reimbursement - if you are currently employed, check with your employer to see if they offer any kind of tuition assistance or reimbursement programs. This could be a great source of financing, but be sure to check on any penalties or on-going employment demands.

Home Equity Loans - if you own your home, a home equity loan might be an attractive way to finance your IT training. Check with your mortgage lender and see what home equity options are available to you.

Family/Friend Loans - is there a family member, or a friend who is in a position to lend you money for training? This could be a low cost financing option, but make sure you and the lender agree to the loan terms (interest rate, payment amounts, payment term) in writing.

If you decide to apply for a loan to finance your training look for one that offers the best combination of features, affordability and convenience. The following tips will help you make the right decision:

If you have poor credit, or very little credit history, consider using a co-borrower on your loan application. This will improve the likelihood of your loan being approved, and will get you the best loan terms available.

Consider borrowing the least amount possible to complete your training. Try to avoid rolling personal expenses into your loan amount. Use your savings or credit cards for personal expenses.

Pay the loan back as quickly as you can. Consider the total cost of borrowing, not just the amount of the monthly payment. The longer the loan repayment term, the more interest you will pay.
